My Name Is Khan, starring Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, will open day-and-date in 40 countries with its launch in India. Fox Star Studios India, 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight have announced the release date of February 12, 2010 (Valentine’s Day weekend), in India plus territories such as the U.S., Canada, U.K., New Zealand and the Middle East — all of which Fox says have “large South Asian populations.” Other territories will follow in the spring and summer of 2010.

Karan Johar directs the project, which has dialogue in Hindi and English and is about a man who takes a trip across the U.S. to win back the love of his life.

“There has been a hugely positive response from exhibitors across the world to My Name is Khan. The coming together of Shah Rukh, Karan and Kajol is a big event for Bollywood audiences across the world and their fan base is eagerly awaiting the release. But what makes My Name is Khan a very special film is that it brings together the finest Indian talent with a powerful story that has relevance for audiences everywhere,” said Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh in a statement.
