Swiss authorities reject Polanski's offer of higher bail
The AP is reporting that Swiss authorities have rejected a new higher offer of bail from Roman Polanski, who has been imprisoned in Switzerland since his arrest there last month. “We still consider the flight risk as high,” Swiss justice ministry spokesman Folco Galli told the AP. Galli claimed that the offer was not made in cash and failed to address concerns that Polanski, 76, would flee Switzerland while he awaits possible extradition to Los Angeles, where he fled sentencing 31 years ago for having sex with a 13-year-old girl. Polanski has 10 days to appeal to the Swiss Criminal Court, which his lawyer Hervé Temime said was the plan. “This is absolutely what we want,” Temime said.
