Starbucks has issued a comment following news that Carly Simon had filed a lawsuit against them that claimed the coffee shop’s withdrawal from their music label, Hear Music, forced her to be reassigned to a jazz label that did not offer her a sufficient marketing plan for her album, This Kind of Love. “We are disappointed,” the statement reads. “For over a year, Starbucks and StarCon have tried to work with Ms. Simon and her representatives to resolve her concerns…Starbucks believes that StarCon more than fulfilled its obligations to Ms. Simon’s album, This Kind of Love…The album was carried at Starbucks for an additional promotional period in two key markets. Unfortunately, sales continued to lag as the title received tepid response from music consumers.“
