Mo'Nique chats it up

Oscar buzz for her upcoming film ‘Precious’ isn’t all the comedian has going on — she just launched her own talker on BET (weeknights at 11p.m.). Here’s what makes her hour stand out.

1. She’s not a dude
The late-night landscape is dominated by the XY chromosome pairing. ”I wear dresses,” Mo’Nique says. ”If Letterman, Leno, or Fallon wear dresses, that’s their personal biz.”

2. Unexpected guests
”How often do you see black people in late night?” Mo’Nique asks. ”So many never get to because they may not be deemed a big enough star.” Mo’Nique lists R&B singer Lalah Hathaway, V star Morris Chestnut, and Soul Food actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker as some of her underrated guests. But she boasts the big names, too, including Chris Rock and Queen Latifah.

3. Bootylicious dancers and DJ included!
”When you get to the club and the DJ starts playing and the dancers are up there dancing,” Mo’Nique says, ”would you consider that a great time?” Translation: Get ready for a nightly party!
