Bronson

The true story of Michael Peterson, a psychotic cockney hooligan with the shaved head and waxed mustache of a circus strongman, is told with a Clockwork Orange-in-the-cuckoo’s-nest jauntiness in Bronson. Peterson, who borrowed his nickname from that Charles Bronson, pounds heads the way that most of us have conversations. He’s bounced from prison to asylum and back, becoming ”Britain’s most dangerous prisoner.” Yet is he anything more than an ugly walking id? Actor Tom Hardy gives him a rapacious intellect, but the movie, while never dull, is all nihilist flash. B-
