The Swiss government will decide this week whether to grant Roman Polanski’s appeal to be released from prison pending his possible extradition to the United States to face sentencing for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977, the AP reports. The 76-year-old director’s lawyers filed the appeal with the Swiss Justice Ministry Sept. 29, seeking his release on bail or house arrest. He was arrested Sept. 26 as he arrived in Zurich to receive an award from a film festival.
