Ohmigod! 'Summer Heights High' mastermind Chris Lilley starts new series
Good news for fans of things that are funny: Chris Lilley, creator and star of the very funny Australian high school mockumentary Summer Heights High, is teaming up with HBO to produce a new comedy series. According to Variety, the show — called Angry Boys — “will be lensed in a mock-documentary style and revolve around what it’s like to be male in the 21st century. Lilley will play multiple characters.” And…I’ve already set my DVR.
While we can only guess now what the plot will be, or what characters Lilley might play (unemployed i-Banker? former reality TV contestant?), it’s pretty much a lock that this will be one of the funnier entries in HBO’s 2010 lineup. Even as an abstract, it’s already better than Entourage!
How about you, PopWatchers? Excited to see Lilley unleash his comic abilities on new characters? (Still hoping, quietly, that we’ll get a cameo from Summer Heights Higher Ja’mie King?)
