I’m a big fan of destructo-porn — movies in which the chief allure is massive property damage — but I’ve gotta say, I’ve never seen anything quite like this scene from Roland Emmerich’s 2012:

There’s an unbridled glee at work there that I can’t recall having seen before, even in Michael Bay flicks. And I’m not sure what it says about me, or the culture at large, that I was smiling while watching 7,000,000 people die fiery-crushy deaths — but this has now become THE movie I want to see this fall. How does this clip make you feel? Does it fill you with anticipation or despair?
