STARRING Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin
WRITTEN BY Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick
DIRECTED BY Ruben Fleischer

Zombieland may sound like a horror movie. After all, it’s about a band of human survivors — among them Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin — in a world where a virus has turned nearly everyone into a flesh-eating member of the undead. ”It’s really a road movie,” insists director Ruben Fleischer, who likens his feature debut to the 1988 Robert De Niro movie Midnight Run. ”It just so happens there are swarms of zombies everywhere.” That was good news for Harrelson, who says he avoids most fright flicks. ”Horror movies scare the s— out of me,” says the actor, who plays the group’s gung ho leader. ”I have to stay away from them generally.” No wonder: Last April, after shooting wrapped, the actor claimed he was still in zombie-killer mode when he allegedly struck a photographer’s camera at an NYC airport. The real Woody, he assures us, doesn’t share his character’s spirit. ”I’m definitely prone to way too many fears and cautions,” Harrelson says, adding that if zombies were real, ”I’d be cowering in some closet.”
