Today’s “Made Us Think” post comes Dale, who read PopWatch’s preview of EW’s Patrick Swayze cover story and lamented that certain celebrities’ deaths seem to get more attention from the media than others:

“Michael Jackson’s death was a tragedy, but he got all the attention. When people like Patrick Swayze, Farrah Fawcett die, they are not shown the same compassion. Patrick was a loving and humble man and he fought a brave fight. I am a three year cancer survivor and know how difficult cancer can be.”

Dale’s post made us think: Is it fair that the more unexpected celebrity deaths, like Jackson’s, tend to stir up more of a media fanfare than the passing of those whose terminal illnesses had been well-publicized ahead of time? What do you think?
