Fall TV breakout: Nina Dobrev
The ''Degrassi'' alum stars in ''The Vampire Diaries''
STARS IN THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
New Drama — 8-9PM — The CW — Debuted Sept. 10
Nina Dobrev has some fighting words for Twilight fans. ”I was in love with Edward before every other girl,” says the 20-year-old actress, most famous for her role as single mom Mia on Degrassi: The Next Generation. That vamp lust will serve her well as the star of Diaries, based on L.J. Smith’s young-adult novels. Dobrev plays Elena, a high schooler who becomes the obsession for two bloodsucking brothers (American Dreams‘ Paul Wesley and Lost‘s Ian Somerhalder). With Kevin Williamson — the man behind Dawson’s Creek and Scream — at the helm, audiences can expect lots of drama, too. Think a centuries-old romance, some blood, and sex…but not the Sookie-style nookie of True Blood. Although, promises Dobrev, ”we get this close.”
