Today, leaks tidbits from its upcoming interview with beleaguered R&B star Chris Brown, who recently plead guilty to felony assault for the February beating of his then-girlfriend Rihanna (he received five years probation and 180 days of community labor).

Among other things, he says of his ex-paramour, whom he has been forbidden to have contact with or go within 100 yards of for the next five years, “I never fell out of love with her. That just wouldn’t go away.” Of the immediate aftermath of the assault, he recalls, “I was distraught … I went to my mom on the same night and told [her] what happened and broke down.”

He also insists that he is not like his stepfather, a man he has said in the past was physically violent towards his mother: “I feel like he enjoyed it. He was an abuser. It was continuous.”

Readers, what are you making of Brown’s claims, and his current apology tour, which continues with a much-touted appearance on Larry King this Wednesday? Does it matter that Rihanna herself reportedly objected to the restraining order? Does her implied forgiveness alter your feelings towards him (when contacted by EW, her personal rep had no comment), and will it have any effect on whether you’ll buy his music again in the future?
