Proving that I have actually done some real work this month, I only just now stumbled upon this gallery of paparazzi shots of True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard arriving at LAX Airport on August 3. The first slide (pictured, left), I’d seen online, solo, last week when I was doing some “research,” and I promptly made it my desktop photo (then cleaned up said desktop so I would have an unobstructed view ). Cut to me clicking through the gallery, getting to the full body shots, and discovering that underneath that truly stellar shirt HIS JEANS ARE ROLLED. I know it serves me right for objectifying him, repeatedly, but ROLLED JEANS?
I was willing to suffer, quietly, until I emailed the link to a handful of people and got responses back like:
“Rolled jeans are hep in LA. I have held out so far but fear I may cave.”
“They do the roll in Europe, too. Was especially struck by it in Barcelona last fall. “
“I knew, Mandi, and I didn’t say anything. Sorry… I didn’t want to ruin it for you.”
To show that I am not a fairweather fan* (and because I’m fairly certain that Eric will not have rolled that fine suit he’s wearing in this Sunday’s True Blood), I would like to try to understand this alleged fashion trend that I thought we stopped Katie Holmes from popularizing. Anyone care to explain why ankles need to breathe? Or, would you like to join me in just saying noooooooooo?
* I have, however, changed my desktop to a photo of my eight-month-old niece riding her rocking cow in a classic onesie.
