Jamie King (My Bloody Valentine 3D, Sin City) has joined the upcoming remake of Charles Kaufman’s 1980 Troma cult classic Mother’s Day, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The original movie was about three female friends who run into a pair of brothers out on a murder spree to impress their insane mother. The remake, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III, and IV, Repo! The Genetic Opera), is being retooled as a psychological thriller in which the crazy family returns to the house where they once lived to terrorize the new family living there. King will play the woman of the house, a wife who has lost her child and is isolating herself from her husband. Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, and Matt O’Leary are in talks to join the production. Shooting starts next month with a Mother’s Day 2010 release date peg.
