Heath Ledger's last film finds U.S. distributor
Heath Ledger’s final film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, is close to landing a deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group, according to Variety. The trade says there’s “advanced talks” for the film to go out theatrically this year through Sony Pictures Classics.
Directed by Terry Gilliam, the film features Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell, who replaced Ledger in fantasy scenes after Ledger died of an accidental overdose during the film’s production in January 2008.
Doctor Parnassus has already found distribution in European territories including the U.K., France, Germany and Italy, plus Australia and New Zealand where it will be released in the 4th quarter of this year.
