Jay Leno, who had returned to The Tonight Show in early 2008 during the height of the writers’ strike, was cleared by the Writers Guild Association of violating the organization’s work-stoppage rules. Variety reports that Leno was questioned by a WGA trial committee at least once in February. His new 10 p.m. show premieres Sept. 14 on NBC.
