Director/screenwriter/producer John Hughes was remembered during a private funeral earlier today in Chicago suburb Lake Forest, Ill. According to The Chicago Tribune, family, friends and colleagues such as Matthew Broderick and Ben Stein (who both starred in 1986 comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) attended the memorial service for Hughes, who died of a heart attack on Thursday at the age of 59. Stein, who was one of the inspirational speakers to pay tribute, said the service was “very touching.” Hughes will be laid to rest at a Lake Forest cemetery.
