It's Not Me, It's You

In It’s Not Me, It’s You, the follow-up to her snappy collection of new-mommy observations, Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay, Stefanie Wilder-Taylor ricochets through her earlier years with self-deprecating anecdotes all about finding herself. Finding herself homeless, finding herself on Star Search, finding herself on Mexico’s tackiest sunset cruise…you get the idea. Her Liz Lemon-like foibles are often recalled with a few too many rim-shot-ready one-liners, but her writing is rich with insights about loved ones, particularly her absentee father. Ultimately, Wilder-Taylor is so winning about her need for approval that her habit of ending each chapter too cutely is easily excused. B+
