It was only a matter of time before Teen Wolf got a make over. MTV announced today that the cable network will reinvent the 1985 Michael J. Fox classic for today’s MTV audience, and that it will combine horror elements and werewolf mythology, and feature a sweeping romance at its center. Jeff Davis, creator and executive producer of Criminal Minds is writing the show, with Prison Break‘s Marty Adelstein and Medium’s Rene Echevarria executive producing.

The network also announced the development of new sketch comedy show starring Jamie Foxx and a half-hour animated show called The Awesomes from Saturday Night Live’s head writer Seth Meyers and SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels. The Awesomes follows an unassuming superhero and his cohorts as they battle evil villains, the paparazzi, and the reputation for being a group of bumbling losers.
