After the healthy meals that were Super Size Me and Fast Food Nation, here’s another film to make moviegoers question what they’re eating. ”We’re being sold this image that our food comes from a farm with a white picket fence,” says Kenner, a veteran TV documentarian. According to Food, Inc., the majority of America’s meat comes from ”factory farms,” where corporations emphasize output efficiency over food safety. Although Eric Schlosser (author of Nation) is one of the documentary’s co-producers, Food, Inc. expands its focus beyond just fast food. One particular insight: Feeding naturally grass-eating cows a corn diet, which quickly fattens them up, can allegedly produce new strands of E. coli that ultimately wind up on our plate. Seconds, anyone?
