FX’s The Shield, which earned multiple nominations for best drama and acting, will compete against Lost, Mad Men, Saturday Night Live and Battlestar Galactica for program of the year at the upcoming Television Critics Association Awards, Variety reports. The Shield, which ended its seven-year run last autumn, will also compete against ER, M*A*S*H, Saturday Night Live, and Star Trek for an award that honors shows that have made a cultural impact. Winners will be announced Aug. 1.
