Quentin Tarantino is mentoring American Idol‘s Top 7 contestants tonight for a “Songs of the Cinema”-themed episode. Not sure how wide the show’s producers will cast the net, but let’s hope we don’t get yet another rendition of “I Have Nothing” foisted on us. After hearing it covered by Katharine McPhee, Jennifer Hudson, Trenyce, Leah LaBelle, Vonzell Solomon, and LaKisha Jones, I think it’s time that old chestnut got retired from the Idol stage. Ditto for “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” — which has been done to death by Corey Clark, George Huff, Jessica Sierra, Scott Savol, Katharine McPhee, and Ramiele Malubay. (Uff da!) Anyhow, here are my picks for tonight’s show…check ’em out, then make your own request-list in the comments section below!
