Basically a reheated riff on Carrey’s own (and better) 1997 film Liar Liar, Yes Man is the kind of mildly funny movie that would go down easy on a cross-country flight, where diminished expectations reign. But at sea level, Carrey’s ?affirmative, embrace-life philosophy smacks of phony uplift. His ?costar, the always ?adorable Deschanel, adds yet another quirky-love-interest role to ?her résumé. Both stars really need to mix it up a little, because it feels like coasting here. The EXTRAS include more Carrey pratfalls, gags, and outtakes. C+
