Jennifer Hudson is returning to American Idol to perform for one night only, according to the Associated Press. An Idol source told the AP that Hudson is scheduled to tape a performance on Wednesday after the live broadcast is done, and that Fox will air the number at a later date. The performance will be Hudson’s first time back on the Idol stage since her mother, brother, and nephew were killed in October 2008. Hudson, 27, was one of the finalists during Idol‘s third season, and she went on to win an Academy Award for her supporting performance in Dreamgirls.
