We all know that Mickey Rourke is hoping Eric Roberts is next on the comeback train, but it sounds like Nick Nolte might have found a ride: Variety reports that Nolte will topline the Lionsgate film Warrior, in which he’ll play a Vietnam vet-turned-steel mill worker-turned-recovering alcoholic-turned-mixed martial arts expert who trains his youngest son (RocknRolla‘s Tom Hardy) for a tournament. (The son could end up facing his older sibling, played by The Truth About Men‘s Joel Edgerton, in the ring. Drama!) House‘s Jennifer Morrison will costar in the pic, which begins shooting next month in Pittsburgh. Gavin O’Connor (Miracle, Pride and Glory) directs.

Are you ready for Nick Nolte to make another run at Oscar? (He’s been nominated twice, for 1991’s The Prince of Tides and 1998’s Affliction). Which other actors are you rooting for?
