Grammy-winning Welsh pop star Duffy was the top winner at last night’s BRIT Awards, the UK’s premiere music honor. The 24 year-old starlet won three awards, for British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough, and British Album. Fellow countryman Tom Jones presented her with the trophy for best album, for her debut Rockferry, which topped Coldplay’s Viva La Vida and Radiohead’s In Rainbows. “I cannot tell you what this means after five years [of hard work],” said the songstress, who also performed a version of her song, “Warwick Avenue,” for the audience at London’s Earl Court Arena.2009 BRIT Award winners:British Female Solo Artist – DuffyInternational Female Solo Artist – Katy PerryBritish Breakthrough Act – DuffyInternational Group – Kings Of LeonBritish Male Solo Artist – Paul WellerInternational Album Kings Of Leon – Only By The NightBritish Live Act – Iron MaidenBritish Group – ElbowCritics’ Choice Award – Florence and the MachineInternational Male Solo Artist – Kanye WestBritish Single Girls Aloud – The PromiseMastercard British Album Duffy – RockferryOutstanding Contribution to Music – The Pet Shop Boys
