That’s what I’m talkin’ about! I just did a quick scan of my notes from tonight’s one-hour episode of American Idol, and realized we heard actual real-life music coming out of the mouths of the following singers: Adam Lambert, Matt Giraud, Jamar Rogers, Danny Gokey, Anoop Desai, Jorge Nuñez, Scott McIntyre, Kendall Beard, Stevie Wright, Lil Rounds, Kristin McNamara, Mishavonna Henson, Tatiana Del Toro, Alexis Grace, Kenny Hoffpauer, Jasmine Murray, Nathaniel Marshall, Joanna Pacitti, Casey Carlson, Stephen Fowler, Jackie Tohn, Arianna Afsar, Anne Marie Boskovich, Ju’not Joyner, Kaylan Loyd, Leneshe Young, Kai Kalama, Michael Sarver, and That Dude in the Headband and Shiny Shirt. That’s 29 vocal performances (or, to be more accurate, 27 snippets of musical performances) packed into an approximately 43-minute period. And while there’s plenty for me to kvetch about — Norman over Leneshe? What to the what-what? — I’ll cover all that (and Paula’s necklace!) in my full TV Watch recap, slated to publish sometime around 6 a.m. Wednesday. Until then, go directly to the comments section to discuss — but before you do, press play on our latest episode of Idolatry below. It’s got a little Tarzan, a little Deanna Brown, and a little “Single Ladies” tribute to boot.
