Inside Moves

Fresh from a failed ? suicide attempt, a grizzled ? space case (John Savage) ?forges friendships with the losers and dreamers who populate a dive ?bar. Some scenes in Inside Moves play like ?the world’s teariest Cheers episode, but Diana Scarwid’s ?bathos-free (and Oscar-nominated) turn anchors ?a bracing love story. Also impressive are stretches of patient naturalism ? from Superman director Richard Donner. In the ? EXTRAS, he recalls that studios were nonplussed by a movie centered ? on “a whore and a bunch of cripples.” B
