CSI: NY and Criminal Minds helped CBS with its routine domination of Wednesday night, as preliminary overnight ratings show Minds winning the evening with 15.1 million viewers and CSI (pictured) pulling in another 13.3 million. Meanwhile, the Eye’s reliable half-hour sitcoms The New Adventures of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried both reached 7.5 million viewers, which is about their season average. The only other semi-encouraging number of the night came from Fox’s Secret Millionaire’s 6.6 million viewers, an 8 percent slide from its second-week audience and a fairly typical 11 percent drop-off from the series premiere.

Unfortunately, the good tidings didn’t reach the other networks. NBC’s night was particularly dismal, as Life‘s audience (5.2 million) dropped 3 million from last week, and Law & Order (6.9 million) shed 4.4 million. NBC’s 8 p.m. special, A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa, outperformed both regular series, attracting 7.4 million viewers to the North Pole. All of the ABC dramas’ viewership went down slightly: Pushing Daisies (4.8 million), Private Practice (6.7 million), and Dirty Sexy Money (5.2 million). And on The CW, a repeat of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show outperformed Stylista by a million viewers.
