Rowling created handwritten, hand-illustrated copies of Beedle — bound in Moroccan leather and studded with silver and jewels — to thank six people who helped bring the Potter series to life. Though not all the recipients have been identified, one book went to Rowling’s editor at Scholastic, Arthur Levine, who recently unveiled his moonstone-encrusted edition for public viewing at the New York Public Library.
