All Night Lotus Party

Cofounded by Mission of Burma drummer Peter Prescott, Volcano Suns located their sound somewhere between Burma’s ugly beauty and the Meat Puppets’ expansive jam-punk. These two reissues of previously out-of-print albums, The Bright Orange Year and All Night Lotus Party — both of which include plenty of bonus tracks — showcase a versatile band of snarly shape-shifters, whipsawing their way through twitchy hardcore (”Promise Me”), introspective balladry (”Room With a View”), and galloping No Wave (”Ride the Cog”).
