We gave it a B

They’ll probably show up on Turner Classic Movies, but two of these four vintage Christmas-themed flicks — all new to DVD — are keepers. Holiday Affair (1949) showcases a sleepy-eyed Mitchum wooing a reluctant Janet Leigh in a tale that deftly punctures department-store market-research warfare, while Blossoms in the Dust (1941) wraps Oscar-winning Technicolor decor around the four-hankie tale of a crusader (Greer Garson) finding homes for orphans. Two other curios — more homeless tots in All Mine to Give (1957) and hard-up WWII veterans in It Happened on 5th Avenue (1947) — play like sweet, disposable Hallmark Channel time-passers. B
