Rachel Zoe's client style
Stylist Rachel Zoe, whose series The Rachel Zoe Project ends its season Oct. 14 on Bravo, creates red-carpet magic. EW shows you how.
Dress on the Edge
For 2007’s Metropolitan Museum Costume Gala, Zoe put Cameron Diaz in a fuchsia John Galliano for Dior gown paired with turquoise jewelry. Sure, the color combination had its critics, but it made a splash. Says Zoe, ”Cameron always loves to do something unexpected.”
Keep the Couture Current
Zoe doesn’t just outfit her clients in designer labels — she plucks their clothes right from the runway. After spotting this gown at Monique Lhuillier’s show on Sept. 9, she nixed the Emmy look she’d prepped for Debra Messing and overnighted her this dress instead.
Rock the Oscars
There’s no red carpet more important, so Zoe begins planning Academy-worthy looks months before the big day. Jennifer Garner wearing orange Valentino in 2004 — the year she (coincidentally?) hit big with 13 Going on 30 — is still a Zoe favorite: ”She just owns it.”
Stick to a Strategy
For Anne Hathaway’s Rachel Getting Married press tour, Zoe aimed for ”movie-star glamour,” with a mix of swooping Versace and playful frocks, like this Oscar de la Renta. The result? Just what the actress needed to graduate from Princess to leading lady.
