The Office: Season 4
- TV Show
The Office: Season 4, also known as the series’ most entertaining and consistent season yet: It’s bold (one episode chronicles the coke-fueled downfall of a young exec); it’s emotional (three couples suffer major breakups); and it’s funny (provided you enjoy nipple injuries and feces tossing). But the copious extras on this four-disc set don’t follow suit. The ”Writers’ Block” Q&A has long been available on YouTube. And two-plus hours of deleted scenes are a snoozefest, with only scattered, mildly amusing bons mots (e.g., ”We go together like topsoil and manure”). Ditto for the handful of cast and crew commentaries: While we love learning that actor scribe Novak’s brother penned the lyrics to the Dunder Mifflin jingle, no one ever needs to hear that Wilson just ate an onion bagel and has ”really bad breath.” Ever.
