Clint Eastwood

Gran Torino

Is it us, or is it starting to feel like Eastwood, America’s hardest-working 78-year-old auteur, cranks out seven or eight movies a year? Hot on the heels of October’s Angelina Jolie thriller Changeling, the squinting legend is back behind the camera…and also, for the first time since 2004’s Oscar darling Million Dollar Baby, in front of it, playing an ornery Korean War vet whose immigrant neighbors force him to tackle his dyed-in-the-wool bigotry. In other words, imagine an older, grumpier Det. Harry Callahan turning in his badge and blossoming into the biggest softie at the annual summer block party.
Our Two Cents We’re all for seeing the gentle side of Clint; we only hope this isn’t as sappy as a Vermont maple…or The Bridges of Madison County. DEC. TBA
