Universal unwrapped a portion of the latest Mummy movie at Comic-Con today,showing a 10-minute fight sequence in which abominable snowmen make surprisecameos. Although director Rob Cohen didn’t make it to San Diego (he’s in L.A.preparing for the film’s premiere on Sunday), most of the cast turned out,including Brendan Fraser (pictured, with Maria Bello) and franchise newcomers Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, andBello (who disappointed the crowd by announcing, “I’mactually not naked in this movie”).
Universal also unspooled a clip ofits update of Roger Corman’s Death Race (the crowd sang a round of “Happy Birthday” to star Jason Statham), as well as snippets of Drag Me to Hell, SamRaimi’s return to horror after the Spider-Man films. No clips were shown of thestudio’s upcoming adaptation of Sid and Marty Krofft’s Land of the Lost — just ateaser trailer — but star Will Ferrell did appear via video link to sing aversion of the beloved theme song. The big news: The Kroffts announced they wereworking on launching a big screen version of H.R. Pufnstuf.
