Remember Sheen’s Tony Blair impersonation in 2006’s The Queen? He’d perfected it three years earlier in The Deal, an excellent made-for-U.K.-TV prequel about Blair’s battle with mentor Gordon Brown (David Morrissey) for leadership of Britain’s Labour Party. The duo supposedly agreed that if Brown shifted party allegiance so Blair could become prime minister, the protégé would resign after one term and let Brown take the reins. Psych! If all that British history sounds confusing, don’t fret: EXTRAS include a 20-minute interview with director Stephen Frears that aims to ”place the story in context” for U.S. audiences.
