Imagine Borat if everybody in the movie were in on Sacha Baron Cohen‘s joke and if Baron Cohen were aggressively unfunny, and you’ll get The Doorman, a Z-grade mockumentary that follows Trevor (Lucas Akoskin), the heavily accented ”most famous doorman in New York.” As sort-of-celebs like Peter Bogdanovich barely play along, the movie aims to send up velvet-rope culture, but its stabs at humor are so feeble (Trevor says ”white check” when he means ”blank check”) that it almost plays straight. And judging from the Brad and Jen joke, this one’s been on the shelf for a while. D-
