Hollywood's next strike move
SAG members might begin negotiations again after working sans contract
No one in Hollywood is dusting off the old Norma Rae picket signs yet, despite the fact that the largest actors’ union, SAG, began working without a contract as of June 30. The next big date is July 8, when SAG’s smaller sister union, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, votes on its new pact with producers. (SAG has complained its sibling compromised too much.) In the likely scenario that AFTRA’s contract is ratified, SAG will return to the negotiating table.
