Fans of Friday Night Lights‘ Kyle Chandler will adore him as Early Edition‘s stockbroker with a heart of gold. In the midst of a messy divorce and on the brink of losing his job, he starts getting tomorrow’s paper today (delivered by a mysterious orange cat) and uses the info to avert others’ misfortunes rather than to improve his own life. He and his eccentric sidekicks — Fisher Stevens is the crooked best friend, Shanesia Davis is the do-gooder blind receptionist — stop a deadly bank robbery, deliver guest star Cynthia Nixon’s baby in an elevator, and foil a plot to bomb Chicago on Christmas Eve. Speaking of guest stars, they’re aplenty: Felicity Huffman, Jane Krakowski, Peri Gilpin, Kathy Najimy, and Philip Bosco all appear. Just don’t count on them — or the stars — to do any commentaries on this extras-free set. B-
