''That '70s Show'' actor signs deal to co-exec produce and star in ''The Emancipation of Ernesto''

(FROM VARIETY) — Wilmer Valderrama is returning to Fox, where he co-starred on That ’70s Show from 1998 to 2006, with a pilot deal for a series called The Emancipation of Ernesto. He’ll co-executive produce and star in the hourlong comedy, about a naïve young man who tries to avoid the temptations and excesses of Los Angeles as he searches his adopted city to find his father. The pilot’s writer and co-executive producer is Emily Kapnek, creator of Nickelodeon’s As Told to Ginger and ABC’s canceled-after-one-episode sitcom Emily’s Reasons Why Not; she was also a consulting producer on the CW’s comedy Aliens in America, recently canceled after one season. She told Variety she wrote the script with Valderrama in mind, adding, ”And this time around, I swear I’ve got at least two good episodes in me.” (Variety)
