Take that, Alec and William: Fresh off an ill-fated stint on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab, Daniel Baldwin will get back to the kind of work that does the family name proud, guest-starring on TNT’s The Closer. Baldwin plays a commander in the L.A. Sheriff’s office whose son is accused of raping and murdering a girlfriend. He’ll appear in episode four of the Kyra Sedwick crime drama’s new season, which premieres July 14.

The former Homicide star says he’s over the whole Rehab thing (“Unfortunately, I heard they’re doing another one,” he says) and ready to follow brothers Alec (30 Rock) and William (Dirty Sexy Money) back into quality television. He even has a pitch for a 30 Rock guest stint: “I told Alec: It should be a rainy day in New York, and Tina Fey should see me through a misty glass window, holding a guy’s hand and kissing him,” he explains. “So she’d spend the whole episode thinking she’d seen his character, but it would turn out I’m his brother.” Hey, it beats cavorting with Jeff Conaway and Mary Carey.
