These gypsy rockers lent music to the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack and the Everything Is Illuminated trailer, but it’s DeVotchKa’s 2002 gig backing Dita Von Teese’s burlesque act that best captures their theatrical spirit. The band’s fourth LP, A Mad & Faithful Telling takes you on a mind trip through vintage times, where Nick Urata’s swelling voice rhymes about things like a ”beautifully mutilated, insanely antiquated” ex-lover.
