(FROM VARIETY) ? MTV has given the green light to two new music performance reality shows. Rock the Cradle, which premieres April 3, features the non-professional children of celebrity musicians competing against one another. Among the people set to perform are the offspring of Kenny Loggins, Olivia Newton-John, M.C. Hammer, Dee Snider, and Eddie Money. The other show, Celebrity Music Mentor Project, features eight celeb mentors who will select amateur performers or groups to work with (some selected from videos posted online) and prepare them to face off with an elimination each week. Like American Idol, the MTV show will have viewers decide who moves onto the next round. MTV has yet to pick the celebrities for the show, which debuts this fall. MTV has also given a second season to Randy Jackson‘s America’s Best Dance Crew. (Variety)
