(FROM VARIETY) — Auto racing legend Dale Earnhardt, who died in a crash on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500, will be the subject of an upcoming movie from producers Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick (Jarhead, Memoirs of a Geisha). Both Earnhardt’s widow, Teresa, and son Dale Jr. have given their blessing to the project, which was announced just two days before Sunday’s running of the latest Daytona 500. No stars or director have been attached, but the filmmakers promise that the movie is, naturally, on the fast track. (Variety)
