Ratner, Darabont, Mangold eyed for ''Wolf Man''
(FROM HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) ? Universal is considering several potential directors for The Wolf Man, following Mark Romanek’s departure from the period horror movie earlier this week. Brett Ratner (all three Rush Hour movies, X-Men: The Last Stand), Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption), James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma), and Joe Johnston (Hidalgo, Jurassic Park III) have all either already met with the studio or are set to do so soon, according to Hollywood Reporter. Ratner took over X-Men after Bryan Singer left the project late in the game to work on Superman Returns. Any director who signs on will be forced to work with a ”locked script” that cannot be changed during shooting, due to the writers’ strike. Romanek had worked on the project for several years, overseeing the script-writing process. It’s also possible that Wolf Man‘s star, Benicio Del Toro, who is known to be choosy about directors, could have a say in the decision. Universal is expected to set a new director in the next week. The film is still scheduled to start shooting in March. (Hollywood Reporter)
