A nearly literal transcription of the oh-so-’70s Broadway hit, The Ritz belongs in the time capsule with your Village People albums. Weston plays a heterosexual shlub who, marked for death by brother-in-law Jerry Stiller, hides out in a gay bathhouse; chaos ensues. It’s the kind of door-slamming farce that rarely works on film. At least it preserves Rita Moreno’s priceless Tony-winning turn as tone-deaf diva Googie Gomez.
