There may not, in the end, be all that much to the mind of Mark David Chapman. He saw The Catcher in the Rye as his executioner’s handbook, and he hated John Lennon, the man who proselytized for ”no possessions,” for being a Salingerite ”phony.” The Killing of John Lennon, a stalker biopic, shot on the actual locations, tries to get inside Chapman’s head, using his own words, but Jonas Ball, a good actor, is too sexually cocky to play the stunted, lumpish killer. You’re advised to wait for that other Chapman biopic, Chapter 27, starring a riveting Jared Leto. C
