For Big Change: Songs for FINCA, a $7.99 charity album available through iTunes starting Oct. 30, actress Natalie Portman selected 16 tunes from artists like Norah Jones and Antony & the Johnsons, the Shins…and indie-pop outfit Beirut, the first band Portman approached to appear on the mix. Not only was her ”new favorite band” up for it, says Portman, they even ”invited me to sing on the track. I wanted to so badly, but it didn’t work out. I hope they extend the offer again.” No worries. There are no losers here! Listen to the band’s brand-new track, ”My Night With the Prostitute From Marseille,” in the player below and you’ll hear why. Then, read what Natalie Portman told EW about the project in our Fall Music Q&A.
