Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
It’s the Tim Burtoniest Tim Burton trailer ever. There’s wild-haired, pale-faced Johnny Depp à la Edward Scissorhands; dark-eyed, pale-faced Helena Bonham Carter à la Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; elaborately dank London sets; rich Technicolor dreamscapes; a plot rife with violence and revenge; and…Johnny Depp singing? Oh, this is a musical? We’re miffed that legendary composer Stephen Sondheim is barely mentioned in this preview, but — save for the obligatory lame joke at the end — it definitely has us dying to see Sweeney. B+
